The Easiest Beach Wedding Decorations
This blog is about DIY beach wedding decorations, usually at a beach house or rented space. It excludes destination wedding packages which come with a default setup. The best place to find more information on those beach wedding decorations is through the venue which you are booking for your destination wedding.
The Ceremony Site
Our first tip to hosting a beach wedding is to find a beach house or venue that allows you to drive down to the beach. This will make it easier for you and your setup team to haul down the chairs and arbor needed for your ceremony. It is even better if there are restrooms nearby.
You will want to rent either garden chairs or white chivari chairs for your ceremony. These are easy to move and can be wiped off quickly in case of rain. Garden chairs are what we recommend, as they are more affordable. Bring a post-hole digger for your arbor if it does not have a base! If it does, even better!
The Reception Area
Most beach houses have a covered patio under the house. We LOVE the idea of using this for both the dinner and dancing portion of the wedding reception. People can typically find a public parking area in the neighborhood nearby and be shuttled to the house where they will enjoy an intimate patio evening. Another beach wedding deocration idea is string lights on the beach for the dancing portion. In this case, a generator is needed to power the DJ setup. The generator can also be loud, so you will want to arrange it far enough away from the music.
The options are endless for beach wedding decorations depending on your style. Driftwood, starfish, seashells, and tropical flowers are popular beach wedding centerpiece options. However, you can always bring your own style to the beach! Plain white flowers contrast well with the beach backdrop. Candles add a romantic spin, but it is windy so make sure they are covered or faux! We have also seen ocean blue glassware/wine bottles used as centerpieces. Succulents and moss bring out the natural aspect of beach weddings.
The Wedding Favors
Messages in a bottle are a popular beach wedding favor. Other ideas include:
- Sand-blown glass
- Faux Sea Dollars with an Inscription
- Large sea shells
- Driftwood paper weights
- Coverups or beach blankets
Other Beach Wedding Decorations
Some other ideas we have seen or come up with for beach wedding decorations are making a row boat your drink cooler/ice chest, incorporating a photobooth on a deck of the house, asking people to leave notes for the bride and groom inside of a bottle, paper lantern send off, and a driftwood cake!
Your wedding colors can be bold and beautiful on the beach, so play around with different color pallettes. There really are no rules there!
